Christian Charles Philip Bale was born january 30th 1974 in Pembrokeshire, a little village in Wales. As his mother was a dancer and both of his grandfathers were part-time actors, Christian was raised between England, US and Portugal. He made his acting debut in a commercial for Pac-Man cereal in 1983. Christian made his first stage at the age of 10, playing opposite to famous british comedian Rowan Atkinson, in 'The Nerd'. In 1986, he debuted on tv with the miniseries 'Anastasia : The Mystery of Anna' and the following year, he was chosen by Steven Spielberg for the lead role in 'Empire of the sun'. This was a success! He won an award for his performance as Jim. Following this, he started in a swedish movie called 'Mio min Mio' and then in 1988, he played in Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Henry V, and so on in 1990, Christian starred opposite to Charlton Heston in 'Treasure Island'. With 'Newsies', out in 1992, Christian proves he's not only talented for acting but also dancing and singing. The year after he proves it again with 'Swing Kids'. In 1994, he appeared as Laurie in Gillian Amstrong's acclaimed adaptation of 'Little Women' and the same year, he lead his voice to Disney's animated film 'Pocahontas'. After more great roles included in 'Metroland' or 'All the Little animals', and i won't enumerate further'cause there's a long list which you can check in his filmography... In 1999, he played Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho' which made him famous all around the world. He was already in our hearts before that but the particularity about Christian, which is a huge reason for my admiration for him is that he really thinks before chosing his roles and that's why he already had a huge career before being famous, and that's what i think makes him SPECIAL, along with many other aspects of his personality :)
